How to get your proof of student finance document
To apply for a Smart-Pig loan you'll need to verify that you receive student finance. Getting this information is simple, just choose the type of finance from the list below and follow the steps to get the right document.
What sort of funding do you get?
- Go to www.logon.slc.co.uk and sign in.
- On the homepage, click “letters and emails” at the top right.
- Open the most recent “Notification of Entitlement” letter.
- Click on the PDF and save it to your computer, OR take a screenshot of the first page of the letter.
- Upload the file during your Smart-Pig application.
If you have a paper copy of the letter, you can upload a picture of it instead.

- Go to www.saas.gov.uk and log in.
- On your home page dashboard, you will see ‘Applications’ with the current academic year.
- Under your current application, you will see ‘Award letter’.
- Open “Award letter”.
- Save the document to your device.
- Upload the file during your Smart-Pig loan application.
If you have a paper copy of the letter, you can upload a picture of it instead.

If you receive your funding from an NHS Bursary, then please follow the instructions below to download the correct document. You will need this to complete your application.
- Go to www.logon.slc.co.uk and sign in.
- On the homepage, click “letters and emails” at the top right.
- Open the most recent “Notification of Entitlement” letter.
- Click on the PDF and save it to your computer or mobile device.
- Upload the file during your Smart-Pig application.
If you have a paper copy of the letter, you can upload a picture of it instead.
If you receive a bursary from your university, or have an income from a job, you can upload information about this during your Smart-Pig loan application. See below for the details we will need to see to make a decision.
Bursary:
Please ensure your document shows the following information clearly:
- Your name
- The year of study the bursary is for
- The amount you will receive
- The dates you will receive payment
Payslip:
Please ensure we can see the following information clearly
- The date of your payment (payslips must be dated in the last 30 days
- Your name
- Your net pay
If you don’t have a payslip to hand you can show your wages being deposited into your bank account with a bank statement.
If you have a paper copy of your payslip or bank statement you can upload a picture of them instead.
If you are an international student you can still apply for a Smart-Pig loan as long as you are studying at the university or college in the UK and receive some form of income, this can be in the form of an international bursary, scholarship or income from a job. You can upload details about your finance during your Smart-Pig loan application.
