Meet Our Founders

Tom Parks and Shreiff Benaziza founded Smart-Pig whilst studying at the University of Warwick and University of Hertfordshire. Smart-Pig.com was designed from the ground up to be a "safe" choice for students.

The whole thing started when one of us got into trouble with a payday loan - the experience was so bad that we decided to create our own lender our own way, to get a better deal for students.

This blog is somewhere to tell that story to our customers, competitors, the NUS and the media. Starting a business as a student isn't easy, even when there are two of you. Starting one in a highly regulated, controversial industry which people love to criticise is even harder, even when you run your business uniquely and with the best intentions.
